CGSA Announces 2015 Equipment Technician of the Year Award Recipient
The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and the award sponsor, John Deere Golf, are pleased to announce Yvon Jeaurond, Equipment Service Manager at Victoria Golf Club in Victoria, BC as the 2015 CGSA Equipment Technician of the Year Award recipient.
The CGSA Equipment Technician of the Year Award is presented annually to the technician whose nomination is judged to be the best example of an individual who exhibits professionalism, innovation and a team approach to make a significant contribution to their golf facility and the golf community.
Yvon has been the head technician at Victoria Golf Club for 10 years after working as a top service technician at the national level for the Ford Motor Company. Yvon is well-known for his reel grinding and fabrication skills among technicians in British Columbia. He has rebuilt the course’s 30-year-old tractor fleet, saving it a considerable amount in new capital expenditures, and he was an early adapter of computerized service software and inventory management tools. He was also the project manager on the Victoria Golf Club’s new, $3-million maintenance facility. Yvon is often hired by area clubs to assist in the hiring or training of new technicians.
Yvon will receive round trip air fare, four nights of hotel accommodation and full registration for the 2016 Canadian Golf Course Management Conference where Neill Smith, from John Deere Golf, will present him with his award as part of the 2016 Awards Lunch. The Awards Lunch will
be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto.
The CGSA represents golf course superintendents from across Canada. Its mission is to promote and support golf superintendents. The association is also committed to environmentally sustainable practices with respect to the management of golf course properties.
